To build off of part 1 where we practiced transforming our transitive verbs with the indefinite man- prefix, in this post we will start using those transformed verbs in sentences. We will learn how to make simple sentences like “I bought coffee”; “I heard something”; or “I made some soup.” We will also add noun subjects to say things like “The woman bought coffee.” This post includes sentence drills in Chamorro with Chamorro audio, and English translations. Lesson 19: Talking in Past Tense With Intransitive Verbs – “I stayed”

In this post we’ll learn how to start using intransitive verbs in basic, past tense sentences so we can say things like “I walked” or “They stayed.” We will be looking at some commonly used intransitive verbs and how to conjugate those verbs for past tense statements. As a note, this post will be making sentences that have only 1-2 subjects doing the action. Sentences that have 3 or more subjects will be covered in a separate post. Up until this point we have been using stative sentences to describe the world around us with sentences like “I am thirsty”; “The water is hot”; or “The coffee is expensive.” Now we are going to learn how to talk about what we’ve done, with sentences such as “I drank the coffee.” To do this, we will be learning how to make basic past tense sentences in Chamorro with transitive verbs.
